I took a month-long break from socials because I needed to concentrate and laser focus. I found myself scrolling endlessly and not getting much work done. Not only did I take a break from socials, I also took a break from news media.
I found that my attention span was at an all time low and my cpu was lagging. But most importantly, I wanted to create without any influence from social media or news media.
I never thought I would leave social media or ever take a break because I enjoy interacting with others, and I have curated a social media algorithm that is generally very positive and refreshing. But in the age of COVID-19 and the “Delta Variant” the anxiety and stress of the masses began to seep through to me….and I didn’t like it. I had to quiet the noise.
At first, I had FOMO But then I didn’t even care about what was going on in the world. It’s like time suspended and I was a hermit in my own little cottage in the woods (yeah… I know I have a vivid imagination)…but you get the point. I went into hermit mode. I had to step away and center myself and my mind, toss everything up in the air and see what actually sticks.
I became laser focused on producing meaningful content and my thoughts became crystal clear. I realized who I really am and what I am truly capable of. During this time, I decided to show up as the real Dominique Nicole every single day.
During my social media respite, I:
Started back my Morning Reflections on the deck in the mornings with my ginger tea,
I started intermittent fasting again
I stopped checking my phone notifications every 5 minutes
I revamped my entire website
I planned months of content
I recorded new courses for my Prep Academy (To Be Released Soon).
I restored my attention span significantly
I don’t know how one little break from socials did all of this to my psyche, but it was so restorative & rejuvenating; I encourage you all to try it if you can. I do realize, however, that this is not feasible for a lot of indie brands and independent business owners. My advice to you all would be to get your business operations onto a strict schedule and stick to it, and also plan your content in advance so that you are not always operating “behind the ball”.
So what’s next and what should we expect from you?
What to expect….
Well I am proud to announce that I am still the same Dom you know and love…just the New & Improved version! LOL. And if y’all DON’T know by now, you ought to know that I make major transitions in my life every few years (if you know, you know…).
So although I have many parts of me (the academic, the scientist, the educator, the career woman, the designer, the domestic artist…etc.) I am so much more than the sum of my parts and I have so much more to offer.
Whats next….
I have been working feverishly behind the scenes to develop my prep academy where you will find my sewing courses, workshops, how to’s and So MUCH MORE….I am also working on a brand collaboration with D.Nicole Couture, so you will not see that as my main focus for now. I am also NOT taking any new clients or custom orders at the moment so hold your referrals!
Anyway…I’m backkkkk and y’all are gonna be seeing a whole lot more of me and from me…I’m ready to rock and roll!

Jasmin just sent this & I’m so glad she did . I am on social media hiatus myself for the exact same reasons . I found myself wanting to check my phone and socials before I even checked in with my maker . I jumped back on yesterday due to a tragedy but then deleted the apps again . This gave me the push I needed . I’m focused on my podcast , health and getting a routine down to really execute at a higher level . Great Read Dominique 🧡
