I honestly cannot believe that today is the 20 year anniversary of 9/11. All of the posts say “Remember 9/11”, but how could we ever forget?
Those of us who were old enough to remember, know how life changing 9/11 was, and how the world as we knew it transformed in the blink of an eye.
The people on the planes, the workers in the buildings, the First Responders, the bystanders, and the citizens of NYC…. I saw it all and those images are ingrained in my psyche for life. I could never forget.
Ask anyone, and they can tell you EXACTLY where they were at this exact time. Me, I was in my 8th grade Technology class and our morning news broadcast was interrupted by live stream images of the planes crashing into the World Trade Centers. The whole world was trying to process the gravity of this situation in live time.In this era before everyone had a cell phone, classmates of mine were getting called to the front office and checked out of school in droves…
Little did I know that this would be the start of a 20 year war that has just met its “end”, and little did I know that my Dad would be one of the first Platoons of Soldiers headed out to War…
So today, we reflect on this catastrophic event 20 years later and for an eternity. We will never forget our fallen citizens, first responders, and soldiers. Forever in our hearts and minds.
